Title:               Summer Camp Coordinator

Term:               Temporary, non-exempt 10 weeks; June 1 – August 6, 2009
3 days a week Tuesdays – Thursdays, June 1 – 17, 9 AM - 4 PM; 5 days a week Monday – Fridays, June 21 – August 6, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM; Mandatory Staff Training June 24 & 25, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Wages:             $10 per hour; no benefits, no paid vacation, no paid holidays

Qualifications:  A minimum of one year of college or equivalent.  Education, Art Education, Visual & Performing Arts or Environmental majors preferred.  Has experience working or volunteering with children and youth.

Job Summary:  The Summer Camp Coordinator works directly with the Director of Education & Public Programs to develop, schedule, plan and run the Yellow Springs Summer Day Camp program.

Specific Duties include: 

Work with and be supervised by the Director of Education & Public Programs to plan for and facilitate all aspects of the six week Yellow Springs summer camp program for children & youth age 5-16 yr olds.  Plan and lead Camp Staff training and the CIT camp with Director of ED & PP.

Train, supervise and support camp Counselors, Junior Counselors and Counselors In Training CIT’s.  Perform the role of Counselor as needed.  Coordinate with the professional arts staff and camp specialists.  Be an exemplary role model in behavior and language with all campers and staff.

Create, coordinate and implement the camp weekly & daily schedules with all Counselors.  Order and maintain camp supplies, materials and program resources as needed and budget allows.

Work with the Office Manager for registration and administration information concerning all camps and campers.  Maintain files and paperwork for counselors including background checks, campers, camper letters, parent letters, camp staff and specialists.
