Title:                Summer Camp Junior Counselor

Term:               Temporary, non-exempt, hired as a weekly position plus two days training and camp set-up; Summer Camp program runs June 28 – August 6, 2010; Mondays – Fridays, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM; Mandatory Staff Training June 24 & 25, 9 AM – 4 PM

Wages:            $7.50 per hour; no benefits, no paid vacation, no paid holidays

Qualifications:  Completed tenth grade or equivalent.  College prep, Education, Art Education or Visual & Performing Arts majors preferred.  Has experience working or volunteering with children and youth.

Job Summary:  The Junior Counselor is supervised by and works directly with the Camp Coordinator and other Counselors to run the Yellow Springs summer day camp program.

Specific Duties include: 

Work with the Camp Coordinator and other Counselors to facilitate the weekly schedule and daily aspects of each week camp program for children ages 5-14 yr olds.

Be responsible for the campers as their Jr. Counselor each week.  Plan out and lead the campers’ daily activities.  Be in daily communication with the Camp Coordinator and other Counselors of your plans and activities with your assigned campers.   Assist with Counselor- In-Training as needed.

Lead campers in a positive indoor & outdoor day camp experiences.  Be an exemplary role model in behavior and language with the campers and staff.

Prepare and maintain all camp supplies, materials and program resources as needed for daily activities.
